When this little gem of an engagement session popped into my inbox it set my heart a flutter dreaming of summer days in the Luberon. These two lovebirds wandered around the beautiful commune of Gordes with photographer Enya Malnis. Light, airy colors and radiant smiles adorned the soon to be newlyweds… Future brides take note of the simplistic styling which created this beautiful and timeless collection of photographs.
To me, summer means lazy days by the pool in the South of France, and I take any chance I can get to visit the Luberon. This engagement session takes place in Gordes, a picturesque village of sun-bleached stone buildings perched on the hillside. An amazing market, a historic château, lavender fields at the nearby Sénanque Abbey… It’s easy to understand why Gordes is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France.
I first visited Gordes many years ago. During a road trip with a few friends, we happened upon the village by chance. We had no agenda that day — our only aim was to enjoy the scenery (and maybe a bottle of rosé). I remember reaching the Gordes viewpoint feeling like we had won the lottery. I’ve been back several times since, and the fantastic view of the valley and of Gordes leaves me breathless every time. We later visited the Sénanque Abbey just outside of the village, and I fulfilled a lifelong dream of running through lavender fields in Provence 🙂 All this to say, these photos of Gordes bring back a LOT of good memories!
While I’m staying local this summer (thanks to COVID!), photographer Enya Malnis is on hand to virtually whisk us off to the Luberon today, and I’m in love. The soothing colours, the backdrop of beautiful Gordes, a lovely couple! Ready to escape with me?
